This elegant Viking Age lamellar belt is modeled after archeological finds from the Swedish island of Gotland. Based upon several original Gotlandic examples, it has been kept as historically authentic as possible. Similar Viking belts or belt parts have also been found - among others - in Birka/Björko (Sweden) and in the Baltic region (Estonia, Latvia). Such belts were usually closed with a loop ("knotted") so that the strap end hung freely on the front.

The approx. 3 cm wide lamellar belt we offer here is crafted from sturdy, 2 mm thick vegetable tanned leather and adorned with brass fittings with copper accents. The strap going around the waist is fitted with brass platelets (so-called lamellae or lames, hence the name) which are riveted onto the leather.

This fine early medieval leather belt is a classy addition to any Viking garb and an ideal accessory for re-enactment events and LARP gatherings.
