Wikingerzelte

The term Viking tents is often used synonymously for Viking-era tents, so Saxon tents are also used under this term. They are perfect for storing at a medieval market or at a LARP event. If you want a historic ambience in your own garden, you can of course also build a Viking tent there.

Our Viking tent replicas

The most famous Viking tent is the Oseberg tent, named after a find at a ship's grave near the Norwegian region of Oseberg. This is a so-called wedge tent, also called an A-Frame-Tent. The original form of a wedge tent is already considered a tarpaulin and a relatively low, horizontal branch. For the found Viking tents, however, ornate wooden frames were used, which could be placed in each other. Nine boards were used: four for the floor, four for the sides and one as a gable. Our Viking tent offered here is based on the Osebergfund. Only the size has been adjusted to make it easier to transport.

Saxon tents and dealer tents

The special form of the Sachsenzelte, on the other hand, is based on various medieval representations. The oldest known Sachsenzelt illustrations are in the Utrecht-Psalter from the 9th century. Like the Viking tent, the Sachsenzelt has a roof bar, but it is visibly set off at the latter. Saxon tents have an oval floor plan and are usually built very high. They are particularly suitable for traders or craftsmen who want to sell their goods or show their craft. The integrated canopy creates a large covered surface.

Historic Tents of Battle-Merchant

Our tents are characterized by robust materials and conscientious workmanship, so you will enjoy your tent for a very long time. Whether at medieval markets, in the army camp at re-enactment or at LARP events. Due to the carefully processed seams, the solid fabric and the impregnation against wetness and rot, our Viking tents are perfectly suited for permanent use. If you want to buy a Viking tent, you should first consider how much space you need. You can also choose from different shapes and material thicknesses. If you are not sure about the decision, ask us! We advise you quickly and without obligation.
