If you hear the term Roman tent, then a side wall tent (also house tent, troop tent or wall tent) is almost certainly meant. This is a historical tent form that was already used by the Romans and well into the Middle Ages. They consist, as the term house tent implies, of four walls and a roof. From the Middle Ages onwards, this form – replaced by rather round and oval tent types – faded into the background. The Roman tents of Battle-Merchant have the same high quality; not only in terms of the robust fabric, but also in terms of the processing of the seams. In addition, the Roman tents are impregnated against wetness and rot, making them suitable for permanent use.
Choosing the right Roman tent
If you want to buy a Roman tent, you should first ask yourself how big it should be and how many people have tohave space in there. Some troop tents are also available in different colours. We are particularly proud of our spacious leather troop tent based on a historical model. It makes every Roman heart beat faster.
What can the Roman tent be used for?
Due to the spacious interior, Roman tents were often used as hospitals or mobile troop accommodation during sieges or battles. In doing so, they fulfil the purpose of accommodate as many soldiers as possible, including equipment. Although declared as a Roman tent, house tents can be used in many ways. Since they are extremely spacious and can be adapted to different representations in no time, whether through embellishments or applications, they are very suitable for LARP events, for example. The tents are also suitable for use in your own garden and exude a historic charm.
