Roman mail

The RM chainmail is the most authentic and precious thing that the ULFBERTH brand has to offer®. It is made of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. The braid consists of one row of riveted rings (round rivet heads) and one row of punched rings, each according to original templates. Due to the extremely small diameter of the rings, these chain mails could be made of a steel with a material thickness of only 1 mm without losing their strength, then as now. This results in a weight reduction of approx. 30 - 35%. We abbreviate this type of braid RM (=Roman Maille), because it was already very popular with Celts and Romans (Hamata). However, this ring armor braid was in continuous use until the late Middle Ages.
