The so-called Justaucorps or Justacorps first emerged in the 17th century as part of the military uniform and eventually found their way into civilian dress. Characteristic features of these particular coats are a close fitting front part, a flared back skirt and a dividing seam along the waist. It is assumed that the pirates first looted them from the genteel tradesmen and merchants and ultimately made them a customary part of their own wardrobe.
Our pirate's coat is made of sturdy cotton canvas and fully lined on the inside. Appliquéd trimmings, high-quality metal dome buttons, large cuffs and pockets with generously sized flaps give the coat that authentic pirate look. It is close fitting in the front, and the skirt is slightly flared in the back. Just combine it with plain cotton trousers, a medieval shirt and a wide leather belt, and you will get the perfect pirate costume.

How to find the right size:
To take your body measurements correctly in order to determine you clothing size, please always wrap the measuring tape horizontally around your body at the fullest part. For tops, sizes are based on your chest circumference. If you happen to fall between two sizes, we recommend that you go up a size. Ease is included in the pattern and reflected in the finished measurements.

Positiv überrascht
Der Mantel sieht sehr viel hochweritger aus, als auf den Bildern. Er ist schwerer als erwartet und neben dem Außenmaterial noch mal mit dünner Baumwolle gefüttert.
Ich habe ihn als Frau gekauft (trage normalerweise SX/S). Er ist schon etwas übergroß, aber noch im Rahmen um nicht albern auszusehen. Die Schulterpartie habe ich gekürzt, was möglich ist aber nicht ganz einfach , da der Stoff extrem dick ist und nach dem Kürzen nicht mehr exakt aufeinander passt (hat dafür dann mehr vom self-made look). Die Knöpfe fühlen sich ein bisschen billig an, passen optisch aber (auch in Anbetracht der Epoche).
Für den Preis war ich tatsächlich sehr überrascht von der guten Fertigung und dem Material und kann ihn definitiv empfehlen.
