This katana is a decorative interpretation of the sword that Tanjiro Kamado wields in the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
It has an approx. 67.5 cm long, slightly sharpened blade made of high carbon steel. Its tsuka is wrapped in a black imitation leather band and underlaid with red imitation ray skin. His tuba is painted black and has the shape of a wheel with many spokes. The black-coated saya is made of wood.
Tanjiro's Nichirin blade
Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayers in the anime/manga to find the devil who killed his family and turned his little sister Nezuko into a demon.
After passing the selection process, Tanjiro was allowed to choose the material from which his Nichirin Sword (Sun Blade) would be forged. These are special blades made exclusively for the Demon Slayer Corps by highly skilled blacksmiths. They are made from scarlet sand and ore found on Mount Yoko. These materials have perpetually bathed in sunlight, giving them the ability to kill demons. Another special feature of this blade material is that the colour of the blade changes when it is drawn by its owner for the first time. After the blacksmith responsible for Tanjiro, Hotaru Haganezuka, had given him his sword, the blade turned pitch black, which is considered a bad omen, as the owners of black swords never lived long.
But this black blade serves the young demon hunter well, even though Tanjiro repeatedly clashed with his blacksmith because he kept damaging or even breaking his sword.
