Maille coifs were used from the Dark Ages up to the late Middle Ages, sometimes in combination with a helmet.
The weave of present chain mail coif is made of aluminium rings and domed rivet heads, with all rings riveted. This particular weave is called ARR ("Aluminium Round Riveted"). The advantage of this weave is obviously its relatively low weight, which also explains why it is also known as Mithril in the LARP scene. This chain maille coif only weights 1 kg!
This mail coif fully covers the neck and shoulders and has an authentic square face opening.
We recommend wearing a padded arming cap underneath.
