Cuirass, Torso Plate Armour, 16th c., 1.6 mm Steel

This reconstruction of a late medieval or rather Renaissance cuirass as worn in the 16th century consists of a breastplate and a backplate. It is crafted of approx. 1.6 mm steel, and hence suitable to a limited extent for combat re-enactment. The armour is blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance, and has rolled edges at the neckline, at the armholes and at the bottom rim.

The two halves of the torso armour are fitted around the body, and secured in place with adjustable leather straps and buckles that are firmly riveted at shoulder height and at the sides of the back plate.

This wearable cuirass is equally suited for light combat re-enactment, LARP, stage, TV/film or costuming, and will make your transformation into a proud knight or warrior just perfect.

Details:
- Material: 1.6 mm (16 gauge) steel, leather straps, antiqued brass buckles
- Overall length: approx. 43 cm (measured from the highest shoulder point down to the bottom edge)
- Chest circumference: from approx. 120 cm (for a tight fit) up to max. 135 cm
- Neck opening (diameter): approx. 18 cm
- Weight: approx. 4.5 kg

Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.

Please note:
To ensure that this torso armour is the right fit for you, please remember to take your measurements over your gambeson and/or any piece of clothing or chainmail you may plan to wear underneath!

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain plate armour on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
