Product information "Burgonet with bevors, 2 mm steel"
Burgonet with bevors, 2 mm steel
- battle-ready -
The burgonet developed from the Schaller at the beginning of the 16th century. Another name is the Burgundian Schaller. The burgonet was particularly popular with infantrymen, such as Landsknecht pikemen, but later also with light cavalry, and thus became the most commonly worn type of helmet in 16th and 17th century Europe.
The burgonet arose in the 16th Century from the sallet. First it was very popular with the infantry but later the cavalry wore those helmets as well. It developed to the most worn helmet during the 16th and 17th Century.
Our reconstruction has the typical, distinctive helmet crest. The cheek guards are movable and even removable due to the pull-out cotter pins. The helmet is supplied with a neck guard: an authentic closed, but hinged version and a rigid SCA-suitable version with a grille. However, it can of course also be worn without a neck guard if a larger field of vision is required.
The helmet has a comfortable leather inlay and chin strap.
Details:
- Material: 2 mms steel
- Size: approx. 61 cm
- Long distance (back to front): approx. 22.5 cm
- Short distance (ear to ear): approx. 19 cm
- Weight: approx. 3.8 – 4.1 kg
