Reconstruction of a so-called scutum, the typical shield of the Roman legionaries during the Roman Empire.
The shield is made of wood, has a hand-painted linen cover on the front and is reinforced with narrow wooden slats on the back. The handle is located inside the boss or umbo.
The shield is available either without boss, with a brass boss or with a steel boss. For customers opting for one the versions with boss, delivery includes 8 screws for easy assembly. The metal bosses can also be purchased separately (as replacement or spare parts) in our shop: product no. 1116675201 and 1116675202.
