The Schnitzel TRI is already a successful all-purpose knife, but Schnitzel Germany was not satisfied! For particularly active outdoor enthusiasts, we have decided to make the TRI even "bushcraftier", tougher, more durable and more practical, to optimise your adventure even further!
It all starts with the choice of the blade steel. We have chosen CPM 3V from Crucible Industries LLC from the USA. This powder metallurgical tool steel (59-61 HRC) is known for being extremely tough, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. In addition, it has excellent edge retention which, depending on use, is long-lasting. However, 3V steel can rust, as it has not been optimised for corrosion resistance. Therefore, this knife should be cared for to prevent corrosion, even though the chrome content is over 7%. If the knife becomes dull over time, we recommend sharpening it with diamond stones.
To give the Special TRI even more possibilities for use, the full tang blade has a sharp-edged striking pommel at the end, which can be used for a variety of tasks in bushcrafting. For additional safety, a black paracord is attached to the eyelet of the striking pommel for additional safety during work to prevent slipping. Another feature is the back of the blade, which is kept sharp here in particular, making it a breeze to create sparks and start a campfire. The blade itself has been given a light stonewash finish to make it a little less susceptible to scratches, although a little "patina" certainly suits this knife too.
The handle scales of the Special Tri consist of contoured handle scales made of dark green-brown micarta, which, in keeping with the steel, has very robust properties and harmonises very well with the colour of the stonewash blade. The contouring ensures a secure grip, a comfortable hand position and makes this TRI even more manoeuvrable than the G-10 versions.
The ultra-rugged Kydex sheath with ergonomic thumb ramp has been retained, and for the Special Edition, features a Kydex holder with fire-steel. And like all current TRIs, the knives have a dangler carry system, which allows the knife to be carried comfortably on a belt loop without being too cumbersome or too bulky. Whether squatting or sitting, the TRI is always at hand.
