The dagger is one of the oldest weapons in the world. Unlike the knife, daggers usually have two cutting edges and a tip, which was designed for the stab.

The history of the dagger began early: already in the 9th century BC bronze daggers were used by the steppe peoples. The Roman legionnaires also use a dagger, the so-called Pugio, which had a wide, long blade. In the Middle Ages, the dagger was used as a side weapon as a supplement to the sword. In the event of loss or breakage of the sword, it served as a defense for the fighter. Famous forms of the medieval dagger are the rondel dagger and the ring dagger.
