If you are looking for the perfect accessory for the next medieval market, then this Viking brooch is for you!

This beautiful brass Viking brooch is adorned with intertwined gripping beasts, a typical motif of the Oseberg style. The back of this fibula is equipped with a pin for proper fastening to your garment.
Trefoil brooches were an integral part of clothing throughout most of the Viking Age. The brooches were usually worn by women, for example to fasten a cloak or the neckline of a dress or tunic. However, they were not only used to fasten garments, but were also worn individually as a piece of jewellery.

Whether at medieval markets, Viking gatherings, re-enactment events or simply in modern everyday life, men and women alike can beautifully complete their garments with this beautiful clasp.

The Oseberg style was widespread from the end of the 8th century to the middle of the 9th century and became known upon the discovery of a shipgrave in Oseberg, on the shores of the Oslo fjord in Norway. The Oseberg style is characterized by representations of gripping beasts. These strange, not otherwise definable animal-like creatures, whose shapes were designed and arranged by their artisans in such a way as to fit any frame harmoniously, gradually superseded other motifs. They were prevalently depicted on articles of daily use made of wood or metal. But these gripping beasts can also be found in the carvings adorning the famous Oseberg ship.
