Orcrist, the sword of Thorin Oakenshield
An Original Sword of the movie The Hobbit made by United Cutlery
In the Third Age of Middle-Earth, Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves come upon a troll lair in Rhûdaur. Thorin finds an ancient Elven sword named Orcrist (= Orc-cleaver), which was crafted by the High Elves of the West in Gondolin. Thorin claims Orcrist for himself and vows to cleave Orcs with it once again. He wields the sword through most of the Quest of Erebor and uses it against the Orcs and Goblins of the Misty Mountains. The Orcs fear and hate it in equal measure and call it Biter. Orcrist is single-edged. Its blade is sharp and curved on one side and straight along the spine, a design perfectly suited for slaying Orcs and Goblins. The metal pommel displays the heraldry of the house of Ecthelion, the Lord of the Fountain. The hilt is made of a dragon's tooth. It is unclear whether this tooth was fitted prior to the Fifth Battle of the First Age, or only integrated after the Fall of Gondolin, together with the inscriptions.
Elven runes on the sword:
The name Orcrist (= Orc-cleaver) can be read on the guard.
The inscription running along both sides of the blade has been translated as being The Serpent's Tooth.
This faithfully detailed replica is a reproduction of the actual filming prop created by Weta Workshop in New Zealand and used in the motion picture The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey. United Cutlery, leader in the field of movie prop replicas, has meticulously recreated this sword using highest quality materials only. The highest priority was set on the accuracy of all details. The sword is almost one meter long. A runic inscription is etched on the stainless steel blade. The hilt is made of solid metal parts, imitation gemstones and an acrylic resin grip cast from the original prop.
Delivery includes a decorative wall display made of wood and a certificate of authenticity.
