Roman Torcs for Phalerae Chest Harness, Tinned Brass, Set of 2

In Ancient Rome, beside the phalerae (disc-shaped plates/medals), military distinctions were also granted to Roman soldiers in the form of torques. These large open rings were always awarded in pairs. During parades, a highly decorated Roman legionary (called a phaleratus) would exhibit his phalerae on a leather chest harness worn over his armour. The torques would usually be worn prominently at collarbone level, hanging from a red scarf known as a focale.

This reproduction of a Roman torc with lion's head terminals is cast from brass and tin-plated. It is perfectly suited for your own DIY project or as a replacement/spare piece for Roman chest harnesses, for example our product no. 1016676500.

An ideal accessory for Roman re-enactment.

These fine torcs are sold in pairs.
