Ribe Mjød is a special mead created to celebrate the 1300th anniversary of Ribe, Denmark’s oldest town and most important port during the Viking Age.
This mead recipe was developed in collaboration with Ribe Vikinge Center and contains apple and myrica gale.

The apple juice slightly accentuates the mead’s fruity and tart notes and contrasts beautifully with the sweetness of the honey.

Dansk Mjød’s honey wines are based on old, traditional recipes with the addition of juices and herbs. Another special feature of many meads is that the fermentation is stopped by adding alcohol. This gives the mead an unusual strength, which is tempered by its residual sweetness, resulting in a liqueur-like smoothness and balance.
