A pre-Viking Age (Vendel Period) fibula from Gotland in Sweden. This ornamental bird is said to be a representation of one ofOdin's ravens as per Norse mythology. According to the Edda, Huginn and Muninn (often spelt Hugin and Munin in modern English)were the faithful companions and helpers of Odin, who also went by the name of Hrafnáss (Raven-God).
