Odin’s Skull from Dansk Mjød is inspired by the legend of Suttungs Met, the first mead in Norse mythology. According to the legend, Odin, the greatest of the Norse gods, stole the mead from the giants. Brewed from honey and the wise Kvasir, it was said to give those who drank it supernatural powers, including extraordinary poetic abilities.
Dansk Mjød’s mead may not give you supernatural powers, but it has an incomparable taste of slightly tart apple juice with a hint of cinnamon.
Dansk Mjød’s honey wines are based on old, traditional recipes with the addition of juices and herbs. Another special feature of many meads is that the fermentation is stopped by adding alcohol. This gives the mead an unusual strength, which is tempered by its residual sweetness, resulting in a liqueur-like smoothness and balance.
