If you are looking for a first-rate armour for the hands that is suitable for combat re-enactment and is easy on the wallet, you've come to the right place! These sturdy, lightweight hourglass gauntlets based on historical examples are not only high-quality but also good value.

In the late Middle Ages, plated gauntlets were an essential part of the suit of armour, protecting the hands and wrists both on the battlefield and during jousting tournaments.

The late medieval battle gauntlets we offer here as a pair, also known as hourglass gauntlets owing to their particular sandglass-like shape, are handcrafted from approx. 1.6 mm thick steel (slight variations in steel thickness may occur due to the manufacturing process). The inside is blackened for better corrosion resistance.

These battle-ready finger gauntlets do not only impress with their authentic appearance, but also with their flexibility, which allows for adequate freedom of movement. Wearing comfort is ensured by integrated, riveted gloves made of soft suede, as well as additional stitched-on finger pads made of thick leather. And a robust, riveted leather strap on the palm of each hand keeps the glove firmly in place, providing for a secure hold during combat.

Owing to their elegant simplicity, these articulated, fully wearable gauntlets can be combined with a wide range of medieval knight’s armours. They are most fitting for late medieval settings, and particularly well-suited to complete the armour of a 14th c. European warrior or knight. Their flexible design and relatively low weight make them ideal for combat re-enactment / stage fighting. Of course, they are also perfect for high-end costuming or as a collectible / display piece.

So, with such a great value for money, why should you hesitate any longer? Order these hand-made plate gauntlets now, and see for yourself!

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain the plate gauntlets on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.

Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
