These ankle-high shoes are based on archaeological finds from Schleswig and Constance, Germany. They are suitable for the period around 1100 - 1400 AD.
A turnshoe was a type of footwear made of leather that was used during the Middle Ages. It was so named because it was put together inside-out and then turned right side out once finished.
Details:
- Above ankle outer lacing
- Upper leather is approx. 1.8 mm thick, made with non-chemical-based tanning methods
- 4 mm thick leather soles, also vegetable tanned
- Hand-made in the authentic turn-sewn method
The shoes are available in various sizes. These are standard European ones, but the shape of the shoes is quite narrow, especially at the toes. If you happen to have wider feet or just prefer somewhat roomier shoes (or need more space for insoles), we recommend that you go up a size.
- Available sizes: 41 to 46
Please note:
The durability of these shoes is not comparable to modern footwear. They are sensitive to asphalt and gravel. We recommend shoe inserts and wearing pattens.
