Anduril originated as Narsil, the Sword of Elendil, the first High King of Gondor. At the End of the Second Age of Middle-earth, Narsils blade was shattered by Sauron when Elendil fell during the Lat Alliance of Elves and Men, creating the Shards of Narsil. Isildur, Elendils son, then used the broken hilt of Narsil to cut The One Ring from Saurons finger, breaking the bonds of his power and banishing his evil shadow into the darkness. The shards were kept for safe keeping in Rivendell, the house of Elrond. Legend told that the sword would one day be reforged and the king would return.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Anduril was reforged from the Shards of Narsil for Aragorn by elven smiths in Rivendell. Elrond said of the legendary blade “The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walk this earth.”

This authentically detailed collectible is an officially licensed reproduction of the actual filming prop used in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy. United Cutlery, industry leader in fine movie reproductions, has meticulously recreated the prop sword using only the finest grade material and craftsmanship. Close attention to detail was a top priority. The Museum Collection edition of Anduril features a 1060 high carbon steel blade with several improvements over the standard version of the sword to more accurately replicate the filming prop. The surface polish is finer, the engraved blade runes are more accurately shaped and detailed, and the fuller grooves are now the correct length.

The inscription down the length of the blade on both sides is in the language of Quenya, written in the runes of Eregion, that says: Nányë Andúril i né Narsil i macil Elendilo. Lercuvanten i máli Mordórëo. This translates to: I am Andúril who was Narsil, the sword of Elendil. Let the thralls of Mordor flee me.

The elaborate hilt features a genuine leather-wrapped grip and a solid metal crossguard and pommel with gold-plated accents. Elven runes are engraved on the pommel and say: Narsil is my name, a mighty sword. Telchar made me in Nogrod.

Each sword is individually serial numbered on the blade and includes a certificate of authenticity. Delivery includes an approx. 36 cm long wooden wall display with an intricately detailed gold-plated metal crest and gold-plated sword mounting arms. Also included is a Gondorian themed blue cloth banner to be hung behind the display. The display and the banner feature the ancient heraldry of the Kingdom of Gondor: the flowering white tree of Gondor, the seven stars of Elendil, and a winged crown above them, the symbol of the king.
