The sword features the typical characteristics of a traditional two-handed sword from the European late Middle Ages, and represents, so to speak, an archetype of the late medieval longsword. This classic example of a cut-and-thrust long sword is patterned after the arming swords wielded by 15th century knights.
The long, double-edged high carbon steel blade with flattened diamond cross-section sports both a gentle profile and distal taper towards the point. It is full-tanged and riveted to the pommel. The blunt edges are approx. 2.5 mm / 1.5 mm thick, and the tip is rounded.
The cruciform hilt is composed of a long wooden core grip with brown leather overlay, a straight steel cross guard, and an elongated octagonal scent-stopper pommel, also made of steel, with concave facets and rounded top.
All in all, this two-handed medieval sword combines optimum weight distribution, agility, and secure hold with elegant simplicity.
This late medieval knightly sword comes complete with a gorgeous scabbard made of wood and covered with brown leather. The tip is reinforced with a blued steel chape, and at the throat, the leather extends upward and covers part of the guard at the ricasso. The scabbard is also equipped with an adjustable carrying belt (shoulder belt).
Of course, this two-hander is not only ideal for combat re-enactment, stage fighting or sparring, but also as a collectible, decoration/display piece or prop, e.g. to complete your costume.

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain the blade on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.

Perfektes Schwert, klapprige Scheide
Das Schwert besticht durch schlichte Eleganz und saubere Verarbeitung. Ich konnte weder Schleifspuren noch Kratzer finden und alle Teile sitzen fest (ob das so bleibt, wird sich aber erst noch zeigen müssen).
Wirklich überrascht hat mich jedoch, wie führig dieses Langschwert ist - es liegt nahezu perfekt in der Hand. Der Griff ist auch für zwei behandschuhte Hände lang genug, kann aber auch ohne diese sehr bequem benutzt werden.
Die mitgelieferte Schwertscheide sieht sehr gut aus und das Leder ist auch sauber verarbeitet. Leider fiel das Filzstück am Scheidenmund direkt nach dem Auspacken ab. Was mich jedoch deutlich mehr stört ist, wie sehr das Schwert in der Scheide klappert. Ein im Scheidenmund eingeklebtes Stück Moosgummi sorgt zwar dafür, dass das Schwert selbst fest in der Scheide steckt, aber die Klinge knallt bei jeder Bewegung gegen das Holz - als ob Metall und Holz in einen Sack geworfen und kräftig durchgeschüttelt würden. Auf Rückfrage wurde mir bestätigt, dass das bei diesem Modell wohl immer so ist. Hier wurde meiner Meinung nach am falschen Ende gespart und auf ein Innenfutter für für das Holz verzichtet. Ohne dieses Problem hätte es von mir 5 von 5 Sternen gegeben. Das Schwert selbst ist super, aber ich bewerte hier ja das komplette Paket.
Das Schwert wurde schnell geliefert, war gut eingeölt und mehrfach in Blisterfolie eingepackt. Der Griff war zusätzlich mit Folie geschützt und die Scheide gesondert in Papier eingewickelt.
Ergänzung: Ich habe jetzt ein (sehr) dünnes Lederband von oben in die Scheide eingeführt und am Scheidenmund befestigt. Das Schwert lässt sich noch immer problemlos in die Scheide stecken und wieder herausziehen, aber das Klappern ist dadurch fast vollständig verschwunden.
