By the high Middle Ages, Viking swords had begun to lose some of their more characteristic features like the wide, low-tapering blade and the lobed pommel. Viking swords began to look more like the characteristic longswords of the Middle Ages.
This true to original replica has replaced the lobe pommel with the brazil-nut shape and the short, thick guard of earlier weapons has thinned and extended into a characteristic medieval cruciform. This sword is exclusively hand-crafted. The blade is hand-riveted to the pommel. The hilt is leather-strapped. The spring steel blade is oil-tempered to approx. 48° Rockwell and has a distinctive fuller which offers both great flexibility and a lesser weight. The edges of the blade are blunt and the tip is rounded for safety. The beautiful wooden scabbard is leather-wrapped and features a wooden belt loop (max. belt width 5 cm) as well as a richly adorned brass chape.
This is the practical blunt version of this Viking sword. The same sword is also available as a regular edition (product no. 0180001618).

Das Schwert macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck und liegt gut in der Hand. Die Lederscheide ist auch sehr schön gestaltet. Der Preis ist absolut fair. Einen Stern habe ich allerdings abgezogen, weil es bei einem sehr leichten Kontakt mit einem anderen Schwert Rillen auf der Klinge bekam. Diese Rillen sind zwar klein und kaum sichtbar, aber spürbar. Es wäre besser, wenn das Schwert einige Rockwell härter wäre.
