Do you need help or have a question? Just give us a call. Our medieval experts look forward to your call.
A pair of buskins in late medieval style, made of light brown cowhide.Comparable models were found in excavations, eg. in Constance. The shaft above the buckles can be worn upwards or cuffed down. The middle strap, all fitted with contemporary buckles, goes around the ankle, providing a firm hold. The sole and the flat heel are attached by nails and very stable. With regular care, these shoes will stay intact for a long period.
Please note:
The robustness of shoes according to historical patterns may not meet the modern requirements! They are quite sensitive to asphalt, concrete stones and gravel. These floor coverings did not exist in the Middle Ages! We therefore recommend wearing pattens (medieval wooden overshoes), insoles or to retrofit them with rubbersoles at the shoemaker of your choice.
