Masterpiece of Asian forge-craft
- The sharpened swords’ blade is hand-forged out of 1095 carbon steel (not stainless)
- Kobuse cross-section
- Due to weight the sharpened blade includes a fuller (Bo-Hi)
- Traditional differentially hardened blade as a result of clay applied during the cooling process with an original, beautiful Hamon-line
- Suitable to cutting practice, 60 HRC at the ha and 40 HRC at the mune
- Fine, handmade fittings (Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira, Menuki) refined with gold and silver
- The hilt (Tsuka) is made of wood and completed with original ray skin (Same)
- The tight hilt-wrapping of green silk has been done in traditional Katate-Maki-Style
- Habaki of brass
- The handle-end is particularly long and fastened to the hilt with 2 pins of bamboo (Mekugi)
- The sheath (Saya) is made of wood, decorated with an high-quality Sageo (wrapping)
- The ends (Koiguchi, Kurigata und Kojiri) are made of buffalo horn
- Manufacturing followed museum originals
Ten Kei can be translated with Gift of heaven. It's a symbol for the beauty of nature. Inspired by nature fine flower motifs are visible in the fittings
The blade has been forged in the complex Kobuse-style. A hard covering made of 1095 high carbon steel encloses a heart of soft low carbon steel. Thanks to the traditional differentiated hardening with clay application the blade has hardness and flexibility as well. As its historical forerunner this Katana connects gracefulness and usefulness in a particular way.

Schön und gut verarbeitet
... mit einer kleinen Schwäche, die aber nicht genug ist, um nur vier Sterne zu geben. Das Ten Kei ist ein relativ kurzes Katana (70 cm Klinge) mit einem mittellangen Griff, das besonders leicht ist (auch dank der Bohi) und daher sehr gut und schnell zu führen ist. Die Klinge ist scharf, Tameshigiri sollte kein Problem darstellen (habe es noch nicht ausprobiert). Was optisch auffällt, ist die gelungene Hamon, die sich wie Wolken über einer flachen Landschaft erhebt. Die Wicklung ist fehlerfrei und die Blumenapplikationen sind sehr schön (und gefallen mir viel besser als die sonst oft benutzten martialischen Motive). Die Schwäche liegt bei der Saya. Die Klinge sitzt zwar sehr fest, aber die schmalen Enden wirken recht dünn und man fragt sich, wie lange es dauert, bis sie reißt. Außerdem ist die Saya innen wohl nicht ganz sauber verarbeitet, da an der geölten Klinge immer eine erstaunliche Menge Späne klebt. Meine gute Meinung über das Katana wird übrigens von den beiden Shodai in meinem Verein komplett geteilt.
