Bastard Sword with scabbard

The strong and fearless Swiss and Germans originally carried these early weapons, although bastard swords soon became popular in other regions such as the British Isles and Europe. The term bastard undoubtedly comes from the fact that the sword, because of its design, has no legitimate claim to being classified as either a single-handed or a two-handed weapon. The one-and-a-half-handed sword was a weapon developed for the use of the foot soldier and had become quite common by the early 1500's. The combat styles developed for the hand-and-a-half sword were the particular specialty of the Northern European cultures, with the German nations being quite active in its development and use.
The Paul Chen Bastard Sword is finished in an antique patina, making for an outstandingly authentic appearance. The leather-covered scabbard features a patinated steel throat and chape.

Für den Preis ist dieses Langschwert wirklich gut, auch wenn die Bezeichnung als Bastardschwert (Hand-and-a-Half) definitiv nicht korrekt ist. Es gibt ein kleines Spaltmaß zwischen Klinge und Parierstange, aber das ist in dieser Preisklasse normal. Der vernietete Abschluss ist nicht besonders schön gearbeitet. Die Schärfe ist gerade noch akzeptabel, was anscheinend bei Schwertern am unteren Ende der Preisskala ein Standardproblem ist. Ich bin noch unschlüssig, ob ich es nachschärfen soll oder nicht, wegen des antiken Finishes.
Insgesamt absolut empfehlenswert.
Top Langschwert für Schnittests
Ich mag dieses Schwert sehr, es lässt sich super führen und sehr angenehm zum schneiden. die breite Klinge macht es recht einfach damit saubere Schnitte zu vollführen. Da es dieses Schwert auch in Stupmf gibt, habe ich beide und bin sehr zufrieden. das Trainingschwert ist etwas wabbliger was aber nicht so tragisch ist. würde es definitiv wieder kaufen.
