Grappling hook, handforged steel
Ropes equipped with grappling hooks were used and thrown during battles at sea to affix to enemy ships, pulling them closer to the assailants ship with the aim of finally overpowering them onboard.
Our replica has three arms, an approx. 8 mm wide eyelet to attach a rope; it can also be used for suspending ham, sausage or other kinds of food eg. during drying, smoking or simply for safe storage.
The hook is however made of oxidising material, which is why direct contact with food should be avoided.
