Front-laced shoe, late medieval
Do you need help or have a question? Just give us a call. Our medieval experts look forward to your call.
Sturdy reconstruction of late medieval shoes, based on finds from London dated to ca. 1380 AD.
Each shoe has three laces for fastening at the instep. The 2 mm thick upper leather is sewn using a turnshoe-style edge/flesh butt seam. The sole is made of several layers of cowhide leather. This modern construction allows for an authentic turn-shoe "look" while offering more stability and durability.
The shoes are available in various sizes. These are standard European ones, but the shape of the shoes is quite narrow, especially at the toes. If you happen to have wider feet or just prefer somewhat roomier shoes, we recommend that you go up a size.
Details:
- Vegetable tanned leather (cowhide)
- Sturdy upper leather (approx. 2 mm thick)
- Nailed leather soles, approx. 6 mm thick
- Colour: dark brown
- Available sizes: 36 to 46
