This simple medieval bastard sword is inspired by the hand-and-a-half swords that were widely used during the 15th century. Characteristic of this type of sword was its elongated grip, allowing it to be wielded with either one or both hands.
The approx. 90.5 cm long, double-edged blade is inspired by the Oakeshott Type XIIa. A fuller extends along almost the entire length of the blade, while the full tang is welded to the pommel. The cutting edges are sharpened and the tip is not rounded.
The simple hilt features a wooden grip wrapped in brown leather. Both the straight crossguard, with its slightly flared ends, and the disc pommel are made of steel.
The bastard sword is supplied with a wooden scabbard covered in brown leather and fitted with a steel chape. A matching leather sword belt is also included for convenient carrying.
This medieval sword is designed as a collector's item and decorative display piece. Besides its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume.
This is the regular version of the medieval bastard sword. The same sword is also available in a practical version featuring a blunt blade and rounded tip (product no. SPQR-WP053B).

The steel used here is not rust-proof and might show slight surface tarnishing in places. We recommend you to maintain the blade on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
