The seax was a single-edged blade of Germanic origin that served both as a practical everyday tool and as a weapon. Seaxes came in various forms, ranging from the compact short seax to the larger long seax, which was typically worn horizontally on the belt in its sheath. From the 5th to the 10th century, the seax was one of the defining blades of the Germanic world and was worn and used by Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, and other Germanic peoples alike.
This impressive Viking seax combines historical design with quality craftsmanship. The blade is forged from Damascus steel and features the distinctive pattern created during the forging process. As every Damascus blade has its own unique pattern, no two seaxes are exactly alike. The blade features a pointed tip and a lightly sharpened cutting edge.
The carefully crafted hilt is made from light-coloured wood and enhanced by a darker wooden centre section framed by two brass rings, creating an elegant contrast. A brass ferrule provides a smooth transition between the blade and the grip, while the brass end cap is fitted with a practical lanyard ring. This can be used to attach a lanyard and also makes it easier to draw the seax from its sheath.
The seax comes complete with an elaborately crafted black goatskin-covered sheath featuring decorative brass fittings. An additional leather lining provides extra stability and helps protect the blade during storage and transport. Integrated belt loops allow the sheath to be worn comfortably in the traditional horizontal position.
Whether as a collector’s piece, an elegant display piece, or a prop for historical re-enactment or LARP, this Viking seax combines historical design with excellent craftsmanship and makes an impressive addition to any Viking outfit.

We do not sell this product to customers under the age of 18. Please provide your birth date when ordering. We’ll also need a copy of your ID-card or passport by email, scan, fax or mail.
The steel used here is not rust-proof. We recommend you to maintain the blade on a regular basis, for example using Ballistol Universal Oil, which is ideally suited for steel care.
Please note that both wood and goatskin are natural materials. Variations in colour, grain, and fur pattern are completely normal, making every seax a unique piece. In particular, the colour of the sheath may vary from solid black to a black-and-white mottled pattern. The images above are for reference only, and your seax will be selected at random from our current stock.
Specs may slightly vary from piece to piece.
