This M3 Fighting Knife is an authentic replica of the historic US combat knife used during World War II. The unsharpened display dagger is ideal for collectors, reenactment purposes, or as a historical prop.

Introduced in 1943, the M3 Fighting Knife was issued to US soldiers and remained in service until the 1950s. Designed for close combat, it was primarily intended for soldiers who were not equipped with a bayonet. Unlike a bayonet, the M3 did not feature any attachment mechanism for mounting it to a rifle.

The blackened spear point blade features a full tang construction, with the continuous tang extending visibly through the end of the handle. It is single-edged and features a secondary edge along the spine of the blade. The blade is marked with the engraving “U.S. M3 1943”, matching the marking found on the historical original. The cutting edges are unsharpened, making this boot knife suitable as a decorative and collectible piece.

The handle is made from a single piece of turned wood and is complemented by a blued steel guard and pommel. A distinctive feature is the slightly angled guard on the spine side of the blade, which serves as a thumb rest and gives the knife its characteristic appearance.

The knife is supplied with a stitched and riveted leather scabbard based on the early M6 pattern, featuring the marking “U.S. M6 1943”. Like the historical example, the replica includes a steel protective plate designed to prevent the blade tip from piercing the leather and injuring the wearer. The lower end of the scabbard is also fitted with a leather leg tie, allowing it to be secured to the leg or boot and preventing excessive movement while walking.

This detailed reproduction of the historic M3 boot knife is designed as a collector’s item or decorative display piece and is also ideally suited as an authentic prop.
